If you’ve often wondered how other people structure their freelancing lives and what on earth got them into running their own business in the first place, you are in the right place for a good old snoop.
My Freelancer Friday blog series is jam-packed full of interesting entrepreneurs and freelancers, so please do have a read and get to know some truly inspiring people.
This Friday, I’m sharing something a little unusual… it’s 20 questions posed to me recently by Jude Clarke at the Cambridge News. It’s a little bit of Friday fun and I hope it will help you to get to know me a little better – enjoy!
Jo Christy, 30 (and her alter ego and blogging alias Miss Sue Flay), of Stir Up Media, is a blogger, writer, and consultant.
My perfect weekend consists of . . . good food, great company, dog walks and craft beer.
I wish I could have dinner with . . . my grandma and grandad. I was too young to appreciate the food they would have laid on at family gatherings.
My celebrity best friend would be . . . Quentin Tarantino – the geekery in my living room would be legendary.
Something I say far too often is . . . “Erm”. I say it a lot when I’m recording video blogs or on radio or TV.
The best thing ever invented is . . . coffee – it gets me through the day/week/month . . . closely followed by Nutella.
Something people would be surprised to know about me is . . . I nearly went to college to study beauty therapy, but I bottled it on the first day and decided to study British Sign Language instead.
The best thing about my job is . . . the freedom, being my own boss and meeting inspiring people.
It makes me angry when . . . people tell me what to do. I don’t take direction very well.
A book I’ve read more than once is . . . The Shining by Stephen King – a great film, an even better book.
I’m looking forward to . . . my first long-haul flight to the USA. I’m taking on a challenge to travel “Around The World in #80stays”.
My earliest memory is . . . going to the cinema with my dad to see a Donald Duck for my birthday when I was 4 or 5.
If my house was on fire I’d save . . . my laptop, dog and handbag (and myself of course).
I’m jealous of . . . anyone who travels the world and earns money doing so.
My least favourite subject at school was . . . maths, I was terrible with numbers.
The thing I’m most proud of is . . . getting on with my life and trying new things. Helping others through my blog misssueflay.com.
My favourite game as a child was . . . sardines: like a reverse version of hide and seek.
My mother taught me . . . good manners and that smoking was bad – she found my first and only packet of Bensons one day, and went crazy at me.
My father taught me . . . how to hunt out a bargain at the car boot sales and markets he would take me and my sister to as kids.
The best holiday I ever went on was . . . caravanning in Cornwall for a week, followed by a huge shared cottage for a week with my entire family.
I would tell my 13-year-old self . . . so long as I’m earning enough money to pay my bills, put food on the table and get me from A to B, it’s OK not to have a ‘career’.
